I was an OPI fanatic until I discovered Harmony Gelish Nail Polish a few weeks ago. I love OPI for their wide range of vibrant colours and they usually lasted me longer than the other brands. But due to the nature of my job (I do lots of paperwork) and cleaning the house, my nicely manicured coloured last me for about 2 days before my nails start to chip and the colours will peel off. I tried soft gel and hard gel and they lasted much longer but when they lift off, it was very painful. I had to use "elephant" super glue on my gel nails to stick them back. The removal part was agonising and time-wasting. They are soaked and filed and my nails will become very thin and painful to the touch. One session of gel nails (including removal) takes about 2-3 hours which is another agony to me. I am sure many girls out there can resonate with me.
Then I discovered Harmony Gelish Nail Polish which is a "life-saver" (at least to me). =) It saves me time, money and I can be creative with my nails. Nail salons charges $60-$88 for a full set of Gelish Nail. Why spent so much money when you can DIY for much lesser?
So what is this new product?
The gels apply like polish, with twist cap and applicator, but are cured in a UV or LED lamp like gels. Available in an array of 72 Gelish colors, and cure in a LED lamp in 30 seconds and in 2 minutes in traditional UV lamps. Gelish stays on nails for three weeks with no chipping or peeling, and soak completely off in only 15 minutes.
What are the steps?
How to apply:
1. Sanitize the nails and your hands.
2. Push back the cuticle and clean the surrounding plate.
3. Shape the natural nail using nail file.
4. Gently remove the shine using a Buffer.
5. Remove the dust and wipe the nail with Gelish Cleanser (Blue Liquid) using a lint free or cotton wipe.
6. Apply Gelish Base Coat (Gelish Foundation Gel) – in a thin application and seal the edges of the nail.
7. Place hand in the Gelish LED Light for 10 seconds or a 36 Watt UV Light for 1 minute.
8. Apply Gelish Gel Polish of Choice – in a thin application from cuticle to free edge. Be sure to seal the edges of the nail.
9. Place hand in the LED Light for 30 seconds (20 seconds for light colors) or a 36 Watt UV Light for 2 minutes.
10. For darker coverage, apply another coat of polish and cure under the light with the same time duration
11. Apply Gelish Top Coat (Gelish Top It Off Gel) from cuticle to free edge using a thin, light application.
12. Place hand in LED Light for 20 seconds or 36 Watt UV Light for 2 minutes.
13. Wipe off the tacky surface residue with Gelish Cleanser (Blue Liquid).
14. You're done! =)
How to remove:
1. Apply Gelish SOAK OFF Remover to cotton or cosmetic pads, and apply over nail.
2. Wrap in foil for 10 minutes.
3. Gently remove gel with wood stick.
4. Use a buffer, lightly buff surface of nail.
5. You're done! =)
